CNC Machinist/Programmer 

We are a machine shop and hydraulic service business in Newport RI. We are a small business made up of individuals who are passionate about what we do. We are seeking a CNC machinist who is dedicated to their craft.

Job Type: Full-time

Seven Star Marine Engineering is looking for a CNC Machinist who is:

  • An effective communicator with a dedicated work ethic and a positive and flexible attitude
  • Punctual 
  • Able to set up, operate, maintain and troubleshoot 3 and 5 axis vertical milling machines with minimal supervision
  • Able to set up, operate, maintain and troubleshoot CNC lathes with minimal supervision
  • Familiar with G-Code and conversational programming
  • Profiecency with Autodesk Fusion360 is ideal but any CAD/CAM software such as Solidworks or Mastercam also acceptable
  • Able to read and understand Blueprints/CAD drawings, as well as Quality Control documents
  • Knowledgeable in the use of standard measuring equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators and ring/plug gauges, & pin gauges
  • Able to complete quality inspection reports and proactively communicate any non-conformances that may occur
  • Must be able to deburr and clean all manufactured parts using hand files, pneumatic tooling, and various abrasives
  • Must be able to support and move large, heavy materials, such as stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and various plastics
  • Must possess strong set-up skills involving complex work holding applications
  • Must maintain a clean, safe work area, as well as maintain organization of assigned tools at all machining workstations
  • Setup and operate machinery such as: Bridgeport machining centers, manual lathes, horizontal band saws, vertical band saws, cut-off caws, drill presses, belt sanders, media blasting, and other assorted power tools to perform a variety of tasks on various materials

The ideal candidate will have at least four (4) years of experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines.

 Service Manager for Marine Hydraulics Shop

Seven Star Marine is seeking a service manager for our hydraulic service business. We provide hydraulic service to the marine industry with a focus on the yachting industry. We service hydraulic systems of all kinds including: furlers, bow and stern thrusters, captive winches, deck cranes, passerelles, z-drives, swim platforms, vangs, stabilizers, deck equipment, and sail handling equipment. We have the capacity to reseal cylinders, motors and pumps and charge accumulators. We provide comprehensive troubleshooting, faultfinding, testing, analysis and servicing of hydraulic systems, including stabilizers, winches, deck cranes, and passerelles. We are located just 1 mile from Newport Shipyard with a CNC machine and fabrication shop in house- for immediate fabrication of custom components and hardware.

A service manager will be responsible for managing work flow for service department including customer communication, job intake and inspection, quote generation, service scheduling, and ensuring projects run on schedule. You will work to ensure that in-house and external processes run on schedule, are completed to customer specification or expectation based on purchase order or work authorization and meet our quality standards. You will manage parts and material identification, sourcing and procurement in coordination with the office administrator. The service manager is responsible for assigning projects to the service technicians based on project needs and service technician's skill set. 

A background in marine project management, yachting, sailing, and/or marine engineering, is ideal.
